- ✓Adults over 18 years old with chronic HCV infection of any genotype
- ✓Either due to start pegylated interferon-alpha therapy or electing not to be treated with pegylated-IFN-α
- ✓Mild to moderate liver fibrosis (stage 0-III/IV) on liver biopsy
- ✓Able to give informed consent
Key exclusion· 7
- ✕Cirrhosis on liver biopsy
- ✕Active alcohol or drug abuse
- ✕HIV co-infection
- ✕Structural brain abnormality, history of stroke (CVA), or serious head trauma
