  • ✓Adults over 18 years old with chronic HCV infection of any genotype
  • ✓Either due to start pegylated interferon-alpha therapy or electing not to be treated with pegylated-IFN-α
  • ✓Mild to moderate liver fibrosis (stage 0-III/IV) on liver biopsy
  • ✓Able to give informed consent
Key exclusion· 7
  • ✕Cirrhosis on liver biopsy
  • ✕Active alcohol or drug abuse
  • ✕HIV co-infection
  • ✕Structural brain abnormality, history of stroke (CVA), or serious head trauma
