  • Diagnosis of probable sCJD (progressive dementia with typical EEG or MRI plus ≥2 clinical features: myoclonus, pyramidal/extrapyramidal signs, visual symptoms, cerebellar signs, akinetic mutism, or focal cortical signs) or definite sCJD (biopsy-confirmed)
  • Age 18 years or older
  • Able to swallow
  • Able to follow simple one-step commands

  • History of cancer, end-stage liver or renal disease, or severe heart disease
  • Liver disease
  • Active alcoholism
  • Bone marrow suppression
